Updated: Rural crime statistics released today.
This publication gives an indication of how many incidences of crime occur in a particular area. The rate of crime is used rather than the number of offences, as it takes into account the difference in population sizes for all settlement types. People living in urban areas are more likely to experience crime than people from rural areas.
