This report presents the findings of the apprenticeship evaluation employer survey 2012 to 2013. The survey examined the views and experiences of 4,009 employers whose employees had finished an apprenticeship programme between August 2011 and March 2012.
The research aimed to monitor the extent to which apprenticeships are meeting the needs of employers, and to identify aspects of the programme that are under-performing. This will enable the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) and the Department for Education (DfE) to ensure continual improvement and return on investment.
Most employers are satisfied with apprenticeships; they see a positive impact on their business from having apprentices. The report shows results from different apprenticeship frameworks and also by the size of the organisation involved.
The evaluation also looked at the views and experiences of apprentices; these are available in the Apprenticeship Evaluation: Learners report.
We have also published an infographic showing how apprenticeships deliver for employers and apprentices in the press release: Apprenticeships score top marks from businesses and apprentices.
