Research Councils UK (RCUK) India represents the seven UK Research Councils, and is based at the British High Commission in New Delhi, India.

Research Councils UK (RCUK) is the strategic partnership of the UK’s seven Research Councils. Each year the UK Research Councils invest around £3 billion in research covering the full spectrum of academic disciplines.

RCUK India works with Indian funding agencies to deliver co-funded research collaborations between the UK and India in high priority areas, such as energy research, food security, climate change, the arts and humanities, medical sciences, ICT, manufacturing and social sciences amongst others.

Aims

RCUK India aims to enhance the impact of UK-India research collaborations and works towards a stronger, deeper UK-India research relationship that contributes to key global challenges through high quality research partnerships.

  • The value of UK-India co-funded research activities facilitated by RCUK India has grown from less than £1m to more than £100m since 2008
  • There are over 60 UK-India co-funded collaborative research projects facilitated by RCUK India
  • There are over 90 industry partners involved in these projects
