Updated: A paragraph has been added to the conditions and requirements of this licence to the effect that it will automatically run out if not used within any 24-month period.
This open general export licence (OGEL) allows, subject to certain conditions, people who would normally be based in the UK, but who are temporarily based abroad, and authorised by their employer, to access their business’ technology and information technology systems in the UK, via laptops if appropriate, in connection with their business’ operations.
This revised OGEL came into force on 29 January 2014. The licence dated 1 July 2013 is revoked.
You will need to state the exact name of the licence or the SPIRE reference on any supporting documentation given to HMRC.
