Guidance: Information on the European Baccalaureate

The European Baccalaureate (EB) is the school-leaving examination for students who attend one of the European schools. There are currently around 24,000 students in the system as a whole and approximately 1,500 take the final examination each year.

The EB is officially recognised by treaty as an entry qualification for higher education in all EU countries, as well as many others. As a result, European school students attend universities all over Europe and beyond.

The guidance will also be of interest to parents and potential employers, and is issued by the Department for Education, replacing the guidance produced in 2009.
