Updated: The KS5 ethnicity tables were updated on 26th July. Changes have been made to the school sheets in the KS5 Ethnicity tables and the Ethnicity Local Authority sheets in the KS5 All Data tables.
This statistical first release (experimental statistics) on destination measures shows the percentage of students progressing to further learning in a school, further education or sixth-form college, apprenticeship, higher education institution or moving into employment or training. It identifies, for the first time, their education and employment destinations by gender, ethnicity, free school meals and, for key stage 4 (KS4) only, special educational needs (SEN).
Two destination measures are being published to show the destinations of young people as follows:
- the KS4 measure is based on activity at academic age 16 (ie the year after the young person finished compulsory schooling)
- the key stage 5 (KS5) measure is based on activity in the year after the young person took their A level or other level 3 qualification(s)
The data relates to young people in KS4 and KS5 in the academic year 2009 to 2010 and identifies their destinations in 2010 to 2011. To be included in the measure, young people have to show sustained participation in an education or employment destination in all of the first 2 terms of the year after they completed KS4 or took A level or other level 3 qualifications. The first 2 terms are defined as October to March.
