Updated: Added link to challenges that have been resolved, resulting in published standard profiles.
The Open Standards Principles are the government’s policy on open standards to make government IT more open, cheaper and better connected.
They have been developed following the public consultation Open Standards: Open Opportunities - flexibility and efficiency in government IT which took place between February and June 2012.
The Open Standards Principles document describes user-focused challenges that we use to identify open standards for use in government IT. The challenges that we have completed result in standards profiles. These contain the details of how government organisations should implement the open standards we have adopted.
