Transparency data: Approved exemptions to the efficiency controls

Updated: 2 new downloads added covering exception data for Q1 2013.

Following the announcements by the Chancellor and the Chief Secretary to the Treasury on 24 May 2010, the government introduced measures to help address the budget deficit by constraining spending and recruitment. Moratoria were introduced across 5 key areas of spend: consultancy, information and communications technology (ICT), recruitment of certain new staff, marketing, and property. They apply to all central government departments and arm’s length bodies and any exceptions require formal approval.

The information for the Department for Education and its arm’s length bodies can be downloaded from this page. You can also search on Data.gov.uk, where you will find further information about the government’s transparency initiative.
