The Consumer Rights Bill is currently being debated in Parliament. The Act is expected to come into force in October 2015, if agreed by Parliament.

We’re seeking views on our draft guidance on these new unfair terms provisions (should they come into force).

This consultation will be of interest to:

  • anyone interested in the new unfair terms provisions in the Consumer Rights Bill
  • businesses
  • trade associations
  • lawyers and legal firms
  • enforcers such as local authority Trading Standards services
  • government departments
  • consumer groups
  • advisers

You can read Annex A to the original Office of Fair Trading’s guidance for examples of fair and unfair terms used by businesses in consumer contracts. Note this has not been updated as part of the current consultation.
